Chevra Kadisha: Who, what, where, when and why?
This presentation is a basic guide to the practices, the membership and the history of Chevrei Kadisha in North America today. What are the rituals of rechitzah, taharah and tachrichim? How do people learn these rituals? Members of a Chevra Kadisha volunteer to take care of the dead in their community; they provide ritual washing and dress the dead in ritual burial shrouds. Many people have questions about these rituals - here is an opportunity to learn how kavod ha'met teaches us all kavod for the living amongst us.
