Howard Tzvi Adelman is the Director of the Jewish Studies Program at Queen’s University, where he holds a cross-appointment in the Department of History. His research and writing is about the Jews of Italy in the early modern period, especially the topics of women and family and the Venetian rabbi Leon Modena. Howie holds degrees from Cornell, the Jewish Theological Seminary, and Brandeis. He was director of the Program in Jewish Studies at Smith College and then taught at teachers colleges and universities in Israel, as well as in Germany and Australia. He has led workshops at CAJE and at Limmud.
